Artist Ron Ukrainetz works in several media
including engraving on Claybord (commonly misnamed scratchboard) and then glazing those engravings with acrylics. Ron also
works extensively in oil, both plein air and in the studio. His historical oils of the Lewis and Clark era are rapidly gaining
acclaim, and the demand for his historical knowledge on that great epic is tapped by fellow artists as well as scholars.

Table for Two © is typical of Ron
Ukrainetz' signature style. The process of engraving on a clay surface and subsequently glazing over those engravings
with acrylics was not done before Ron began in 1977. The black or dark background is actually ink or acrylic over a white
clay, which is mounted on an oil-free masonite. Claybord is the product name. The engraving is done using tools ranging from
simple steel needles, to formal engraving nibs. The process is much like watching grass grow, ONLY SLOWER! Ron's knowledge
of anatomy and wildlife is extensive and ongoing and it is reflected sincerely in his work..
